Second day of Racing @redlodgekarting after learning the track yesterday, with a grid of 21 Juniors, it was straight out into qualifying this morning.

Heat 1 P8-P6
Heat 2 P6-P5
Heat 3 P5-P5

Final lined up P6 to come over the line in P3! Which is great result for Rhys this weekend.

Good second day of the @bkc championship.

Qualifying in 8th place out of 33 karts.

Heat one went well. Making up 3 positions to finish in 5th place. Will see how tomorrow goes.

Awesome pace today at Fulbeck Sprint.

With 20 karts lining up on the grid. Heat one. Stated 8th finished 3rd. Heat two. Started P13 finished 4th. This put Rhys on pole for the the 12 minute final.

Rhys got away well and built up a 2 second gap (see video here) and looked to be on for his first win in juniors. Then with 3 minutes to go the dreaded CURSE of Fulbeck strikes again. A broken bolt in the rear bumper resulting in a technical flag meaning Rhys race was over .

Totally gutted for Rhys, but we brush ourselves down and go again. Thank you to CROC Promotion for a mega chassis and @griceracing as always . And a big thank you to @daylehartley and Liam Hartley Racing for Running Rhys and his kart today.

20th November 2022

Race day at @fulbeckikr. Nice big grid of 30 karts.

Heat 1. Rhys started 9th and finished 6th

Heat 2. Started 17th and finished 9th. This put Rhys 5th on the grid for the final - see the action here

After a great start, he moved into 3rd place but got nudged at the bus stop and had to skip the corner. Rhys slowed right down and gave back the positions and rejoined in 4th. After a great race he crossed the line in 6th place a really good result.

Unfortunately after the race Rhys was given a 10 second penalty for missing the bus stop, even tho he lost a position and did not gain an advantage. A very strange ruling that we do not agree with but thats the decision and we come away with p13. Rhys drove his heart out, THANK YOU as always to all our sponsors.

1st/2nd October 2022

Great weekend at Ellough park for the JKC championship.
This was Rhys's first proper race weekend, stepping up to Junior Max.

After the heats Rhys lined up p13 for the final (should of been slightly higher up but took some nose cone penalty’s) and ran as high as 8th before eventually finishing in 11th place and 6 tenths off the fastest lap.

Some great battles (see more here) and Rhys loved every minute of it. This is now the class in which Rhys will race for the next 5-6 years. (He will actually be old enough to race in it with no dispensation in 2024). So this was a really positive start.

We are now doing something unheard of in the Rhys Owen Racing camp. We are having 3 weekends off to recharge the batteries, before we start winter testing.

11th September 2022

Last minute decision to put Rhys in his first Juniors Rotax race meeting at our local track at Tattershall today.

This gave Rhys a chance to get used to Juniors in a Low key event. Rhys won all 3 heats and won the Final as well.

Safe to say he likes the kart in Juniors spec.

Last night we travel from Shenington Superone to Woodthorpe for the GP plate race today.

Rhys was on it from heat one.

After the 3 heats he lined up p4 for the final where he eventually finished 2nd.

Champagne podium was a nice reward for what has been a tough 4 days of racing .

First of all thank you to everyone who came to support Rhys at Fulbeck. Was great to see you all.

Well it was a day of what could have been.

Heat 2, 6th to 3rd.

Heat 3, started 3rd, made it up to 2nd but unfortunately he did not finish, as the rear bumper broke.

Final heat, started 7th up to 5th after half a lap but contact with another driver bent the front, so Rhys limped it home for a 7th place.

18th June 2022

Completely gutted for Rhys. Today was round 5 of Fulbeck Sprint series. 20 Mini Max entered in Rhys class.

After Qualifying and the heats Rhys lined up 4th on the grid for the final. After a great first lap Rhys settled into 2nd place but unfortunately the kart had a problem with no power coming out of the slow corners, thus dropping Rhys down to finish over the line in 6th but officially 5th after others received penalty’s.

Gutted for Rhys who has driven brilliant this weekend in both wet and dry conditions. We will come back stronger as always. Massive thank you as always to our sponsors.

11 & 12th June 2022

Round 4 Rowarh UKC

A new track for Rhys to learn, in one of the toughest championships in the UK. This weekend proved how far he has come in the Mini Max class.

After Saturday’s heats this put him P17 on the grid for the super heat today, Rhys finished 15th. It was a nail biting 45 minutes wait to see if he had qualified for the super final.
Rhys was over the moon to find out he had qualified for his FIRST UKC SUPER FINAL in P34.

After some great battles in the race he came over the line in P25 but unfortunately, he got a 5 second penalty for a dropped nose, which dropped him down to P30.

It’s one of the best weekends he has had in Mini Max, so far.

Really positive weekend at Woodthorpe Kart Club.

Rhys was bang on the pace all weekend including fastest lap in a heat.

We started the final in 2nd position but lost out in the first corner and dropped to 3rd. While Rhys scrapping for 2nd this allowed the leader to get away.

We would eventually finish in 2nd place but the lap time again match the winner.

Massive progress made again this month . Thank you to all at CROC Promotion for bringing Rhys on with driving. As always we cannot do it without our awesome sponsors.

Brilliant race weekend at Woodthorpe.

Rhys Started 4th for the final and made a really good aggressive start to take 2nd place in the first corner.

Rhys would then have a race long battle with Charlie Domonkos swapping places back and forth. Charlie just pipping Rhys to 2nd.

Rhys smashed his PB (by over 0.5 second) at the track with a 35 dead. Rhys has made really big gains since the start of April with CROC Promotion help. Let’s keep it going as we head into May

Race report from Woodthorpe Kart Club.

It was small grid of mini max but Rhys made huge progress this weekend and really looked at home in the Mad Croc Kart.

A race long battle with Charlie Domonkos in the final was a great way to end a brilliant race weekend at Woodthorpe Kart Club.

Next stop PFI on Friday for a test day with @croc_promotion

20th March 2022

A quick round up from this weekend race at Fulbeck Sprint Series. 17 Karts entered into the Mini Class.

Heat 1 Rhys started 8th finish 8th Heat 2. Started 7th up to 5th before a mechanical issue ended the race.

Final started 13th finished 10th.

The weekend highlighted a few set up issues as this was the hottest track conditions we have had with the new kart. We have a few set up changes to make and we will be back stronger for this weekends race meeting at Woodthorpe Kart Club.

6th March 2022

Day 3 of @ukcofficial

First Heat was wet, on lap 2 Rhys got spun on the main straight. Resulting in having a big impact with a tyre wall, the race was Red Flagged 🚩, so the medic’s could check him over.

Rhys was given the all clear and wanted to take part in the restart. With a quick band aid on the kart, Rhys restarted the race to finish P19.

This put us P28 on the grid for the pre final, where we needed to finish P16 to make the Super Final. Rhys had by far the best race of the weekend, getting up to P17, before a mistake 2 laps before the end of the race, finishing P23.

It’s been a MASSIVE LEARNING weekend, thanks to the team at @croc_promotion who made Rhys feel part of the team and help Rhys make HUGE GAINS on the track this weekend

20th February 2022

This weekend saw Rhys have his first race meeting for 2022 in the Mini Max class.

A tough qualifying saw Rhys start p17 .

Rhys worked his way up throughout the day and started the final P13.

Rhys came across the line in a brilliant 8th out of 33 on the grid. We would like to say a huge thank you to the team @croc_promotion. There is plenty more to come from Rhys as the croc kart is awesome.

We are proud to announce Rhys finished 2nd in the 2021 Woodthorpe IKR championship in his first full season in Honda Cadet.

We are now fully focused on Mini max and the 2022 season ahead.

Really good at Woodthorpe IKR. Some great battling in the heats put Rhys 2nd on the grid for the final.

Rhys dropped to 3rd on the start and had a great race long duel with @jakubtrzeciak71 with Rhys just coming out on top to finish 2nd. (See more here)

It was great end to the Honda Cadet chapter.

12th September 2021

Good weekend at Kimbolton MSA round. Last weekend on novice plates. Rhys beat his PB at this track.

15 karts on the grid but as a novice had to start at the back group with the rest of the novices in the heats. Some of the heats didn’t go to plan.

As a result we lined up 12th for the final and Rhys drove really well to finish 8th and top novice.

After 5 weekends racing in a row it’s time for a well earned weekend off.

4th September 2021

What a great weekend at PFI International. We knew it was going to be very hard. The circuit and calibre of driver did not disappoint. 36 karts entered and Rhys started on the back row for the heats. He picked up some positions but struggled to keep up.

In the Final Rhys had a breakthrough moment and worked his way up to p27 and held in the train of karts in front of him. Massive smile on Rhys face every time he went out this weekend. He loves the track and this experience will bring on his driving. Massive Thank you to our sponsors as always.

What a great day at Woodthorpe GP meeting. Rhys drove his heart out in the final to finish a great 2nd place.

This is Rhys first champagne podium and as you can see from the video it’s an experience to put in the memory books.

Good day today at Fulbeck MSA round. Only a small grid but some fast drivers were there.

After the heats Rhys qualified P3 for the final. Rhys drove the wheels of the kart to finish 3rd right on the back of P2 and only a 1 tenth off the fastest lap.

Big step forward today in Rhys driving. And top novice as well…….Well done to @jack_stimson for the win.

Good weekend at Woodthorpe IKR. Good finish of 2nd in the final but Rhys smashed his PB and worked really hard on his driving this weekend to bounce back from last weekend. Click on the photo to see Rhys in action chasing down the leader.

Well after all the good results from the last few meeting this weekend can be classed as a “big learning weekend “ for all of us as we raced at Shenington super prix. Not doing the Friday test day didn’t not help at all.

Rhys struggled for pace all weekend in a big 32 kart grid. We should of lined up in 21st position for the final but Rhys spun on the out lap (Not the first and defiantly not the last driver to do this) so we started dead last.

Rhys picked up some places and we finished in 24th position. So big lessons learned and we will come back stronger for the experience

His smiles says it all after racing at Woodthorpe Ikr today. Heat 1 Rhys got his first win in a Honda Cadet 😀.

Heat 2 finished 4th. Heat 3 finished 2nd.

That put Rhys p2 on the grid for the final . Rhys lead the first 3 laps but but finished 3rd.

Great result and getting closer and close to that win in a final

Rhys is now 5th in the championship table after solid weekend at Fulbeck.

He raised the bar by breaking his personal best for the Fulbeck track.

Today was Fulbeck sprint round 3. Really strong grid of 26 karts.. Qualifying didn’t go to plan 🙈. After the 2 heats we remained at p13 on the grid for the final where Rhys came alive and was running 8th till he got past on the last lap to finish a very respectable 9th.

Onto Woodthorpe next weekend.

Well what a day it’s been at @uk_ik at Shenington. Good field of 18 karts
Heat 1 Started 9 finished 6th.
Heat 2 Started 6 up to 3rd then got taken out for Did not finish.
Heat 3. started 18 up to 8th.
That put Rhys 13th on the grid for the final. He drove superb and finished 5th.
So all in all a really good day. We move onto Fulbeck Sprint in 2 weeks time.

Really good day at @uk_ikr at shenington. First time here and Rhys loves it. We finished the final session p4 2 tenths off. Tomorrow we have qualifying 3 heats and a final.

Well what a day. From being off the pace yesterday to a podium finish of 3rd today.

Getting closer to the front every weekend. Been less than 12 months since Rhys started racing on tarmac and he has come such a long way

Today at @fulbeckikr start well but ended great.
We qualified 15 out of 27.
Heat 1. Rhys started 15th and finished 11th
Heat 2 - Rhys started 11th and finished 8th
Final heat - Rhys started 11th and after a great drive Rhys finished 8th.

Heat 1 finished 4th, heat 2 finished in 3rd and in the final heat finished 3rd. As a result we lined up 3rd for the final and finished respectable 4th just of the podium.

A quick round up from round 1 of Fulbeck sprint series today. This was a step up in competition for Rhys with 24 Karts on the grid. After qualifying and two heats Rhys lined up p9 for the final.

Unfortunately contact in the first lap left Rhys with a bent front upright. But Rhys never gave up and dragged the kart home in 13th place. See more here. Plenty more to come this year 💪💪 🏎🏎🏁🏁
